Rolling Thunder is supernatural.
Playing what they call "poetically funked-up jazz-blues", the sound that comes from this up and coming, and unlikely Stellenbosch four-piece is, simply, quite special.
Bringing the feel of Nina Simone and a stripped-down Coltrane funk to the world of rock 'n roll, they effortlessly mix bluesy riffs, beautiful vocals and dynamic jazz progressions as if its the easiest thing in the world - and the result? Je ne sais quois…
Their incredibly versatile sound fits equally well in gritty, smoky underground whiskey bars, jazz-clubs and the like, as it does in the classiest wine lounges or rocking live music venues.
A unique and eclectic fusion of jazz, blues and pure unadulterated soul, it's hard not to be bitten by the bug that is Rolling Thunder.
