Biography
Planet Joy is an experimental rock band based in Joburg. The band members are Marthinus Kirsten, Stefan du Randt, Kruger van Deventer (Swart) and drummer Isaac Klawansky (Flash Republic/Shadowclub). Their music include elements from industrial, ambient, electronic and alternative music, drawing inspiration from innovative alternative acts like Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and UNKLE.
Their first album, 'The Radiant Point', was recorded in 2010/2011 and is due for release in the winter of 2011. Pre-production and story-boarding for videos have been done. The band members have also created a graphic novel and other art works that form part of the album.
The music is carefully produced and contains subliminal textures and atmospheres which evokes strong emotion and gives the listener a chance to escape into another world.
