Good news for all the Crazy Diamond fans out there who attended the performance’s is that the soundtrack Crazy Diamond – Pink Floyd, Mel Botes – A Tribute is now available in-store or on www.rekordz.co.za!

The electrifying multi-dimensional show has been staged more than forty times since 2008.

Audiences were mesmerized during the show by the authenticity as well as the magic of the evergreen music of one of the greatest rock bands in history.

The double album was recorded live in April during the ten performances at the Victory Theatre, Johannesburg and boasts no less than 31 hit Pink Floyd songs, interpreted by guitar guru Mel Botes and his multi-talented band.

It covers a wide spectrum of Pink Floyd’s music ranging from the band’s first album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, to A Saucer Full of Secrets, The Wall, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason as well as the group’s last album The Division Bell.

Mel, producer of the show and the album, admits that the music of Pink Floyd had a big influence on his music career. He previously thought that he could not do justice to the authenticity of the music, but since he took to the stage with Crazy Diamond - A Tribute to Pink Floyd, the show only received raving reviews, positive reaction and sold out performances’. The demand for a soundtrack/DVD after every show finally convinced Mel to do the album in the form of a live recording.

Joining Botes on this tribute album is an impressive team of musicians - Simon Orange (Hammond, keyboard and backing vocals), Andrew Roos (Hammond organ and additional strings), Theuns Botha (drums and additional percussion) and Jaconell Mouton (keyboards). Denny Lalouette and Barry Steenkamp can be heard on bass and MD Greyling is on vocals and additional acoustic rhythm guitar. Backing vocals are provided by Hannah Erasmus, Elaine Page and Monique Carelse and Monique is also the solo voice on Mother. Other artists include Leon van Zweel (saxophone) and the children’s choir from J.J. van der Merwe Primary School.

Mel is on vocals and all electric and acoustic guitars.

This quality double album is a must for all Pink Floyd-fans and is the crown on the successful production!
